Dan Gallagher is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a fellow with the Water INTERface IGEP. He specializes in data analytics, risk assessment, and computer modeling. He works in both the environmental and food safety fields with an overall goal of improving the safety and reliability of food and water. Recent risk assessments include Listeria monocytogenes in ready-to-eat foods, Escherichia coli in beef products, chemical spills in drinking water, and chemical exposures from humidifiers. Data analytic projects include temporal analysis of automated facial expression analysis, evaluation of kinetics of groundwater remediation, and analytics of behavior and practices of deli workers. He and his students often bring quantitative expertise to broad interdisciplinary teams.
