Yanhong He
Yanhong He is a PhD student in the Food Science and Technology department at Virginia Tech and a fellow with the Water INTERface IGEP. She comes to Virginia Tech after completing an M.E. in Agricultural Biological Environment and Energy Engineering degree from China Agricultural University and B.E in Agricultural Building Environment and Energy Engineering from Yunnan Normal University. Yanhong’s research is focused on process development to convert food waste/byproduct to value-added products, with a specific focus on protein and fiber separation from brewer’s spent grain and biofuels production with fermentation technologies. She has specifically enjoyed being a member of the Water INTERface IGEP, which has allowed her to be exposed to many different disciplines of study. She grew up in China and enjoys getting outdoors, watching documentaries, and cooking in her free time. After graduating, Yanhong hopes to be recognized as a confident communicate and expert in the field of agricultural waste utilization.
